The Junior Service League of Hendersonville is excited to announce the Mr. Sumner County Pageant and Fundraiser held on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Foxland Harbor.

Jeff Brown

Jeff Brown is a husband to Shelley for 17 years, father to 3 children, Adam 16, Abby 13, Andrew 10. He is currently the Director of Sales and Leadership for the #1 RE/MAX office in the southeast, RE/MAX Elite. “We have 5 offices in middle TN and about 230 Realtors. The best part about what I get to do is helping Realtors and other sales professionals reach their full potential by helping them discover and use all the natural God given talents they already have and seeing them achieve more than they thought they ever could!”

In 2002 Jeff became the state of Tennessee’s youngest ever elected county commissioner. In 2005 Jeff joined the United States Air Force Reserves.

Jeff has started, run, and sold a few service and mechanical businesses and has a master mechanical license. Whether sales, leadership, or as a nationally recognized coach and mentor, Jeff has been involved in the real estate industry in one way or another for almost 17 years.

“I have enjoyed so many great things in my career but my greatest and most important job in life is to be the best Daddy to my 3 kids that I can. I am honored to be asked to participate in this wonderful cause!”



Tommy Elsten

Tommy Elsten has been a resident of Hendersonville for 41 years.  He has been married to Tonya for 31 years and they share 3 sons: T.J., Trevor, and Trenton.   T.J. and his wife Allison reside in Gallatin raising two amazing grandchildren, Ty (4) and Lucas (2).  The Elstens have been members of Bluegrass Baptist (now Indian Lake Peninsula Church), for 25 years.

Tommy is Owner, President of Elsten Security Services, Inc (1997).  He is a past member of HHS Soccer Booster Club and HHS Quarterback Club. He is still a current member of AL MENAH SHRINERS and the Hendersonville Sertoma Club.

Tommy has served the city of Hendersonville formerly by being the Alderman of Ward 5 a total of 8 years.  While in office, he was the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee (8 years); a member on Capital Projects Committee (6 years); Board Liaison-Regional Planning Commission (2 years); and served on the Beer Board and Golf Course Commission.

Tommy has a big heart and will make a great Mr. Sumner County!


Jake Holt

Jake Holt! What an all around great guy!
He is the co-owner off Public Adjusting Firm. There Jake helps people who have experienced loss. He is a native Nashvillian that now resides in Goodletsville. The local Rodan & Fields Queen Suzanne Seyfried Holt is his beautiful little Italian wife. They have 4 children together.
Jake is very active within our community. On Sundays you can find him attending/teaching at the Church of Christ in Hendersonville. He also coaches baseball (6 of the LLWS players 2016) and he IS the UNDEFEATED Jr Beech Buccaneer football coach!His love football started in ancient times. Jake was a former player football player himself. He attended and played for David Lipscomb(class of 94) and also played college ball.
Jake would like to add that he "loves our Country and the men and women who fight to protect us". He enjoys watching "Old Yeller" and "Where the Red Fern Grows" while basket weaving. Also he adds he is a HuGe Tennessee Volunteer fan and the Tennessee Titans fan. He loves to cheer on the underdog. Mr Kevin Long holds the Hero title for this contestant!
Jake's FINAL statement is "I am honored to be thought of in the same rearguards the rest of the nominees, but realize I have done a fraction of what these men have already achieved.


Joseph James

U.S. Army Sergeant First Class (E-7) Joseph James joined the military and began his basic training as a “Forward Observer” at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma on July 26, 2000. During his service, SFC James deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom once and Operation Iraqi Freedom three times. SFC James’ extensive list of awards include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and a multitude of other prestigious awards. On April 8th 2008, SFC James’ Humvee was struck simultaneously by two improvised explosive devices (IEDs). SFC James lost both legs in the blast.

Once SFC James received his prosthetic legs, he advanced rapidly through his training, learning how to walk and even run using prosthetics. He received his promotion to Sergeant First Class in March 2009 and continued his physical training during his time in the military, participating in numerous 5K races as well as training for sporting events for disabled athletes. 

Recently, SFC James and his wife, Jarin James, have started their own business in Middle Tennessee. He continues to stay busy by helping support his wonderful family and volunteering and speaking at various Veteran related causes. He currently lives in Hendersonville, Tennessee with his wife, Jarin, and three daughters, Rachel, Melanie and Sadie.


Tommy McAuley

Tommy McAuley is also known as Senior Master Sergeant in the TN Air National Guard. But he holds the title of “Mary’s dad” a little more dear. Tommy and his wife of 22 years, Rachel, have the privilege of raising 3 wonderful children, Grant, Griffin, and the inspiration behind this event, Mary. Tommy graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1977 with the titles of class President, Mr. HHS, and Prom King. Since then, he’s added a few titles to his belt, including the Inspiration Award for running the Hendersonville Classic 10K with daughter, Mary, in 2008. He also has several military awards and medals, including the Air Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. When he’s not busy serving the country, Tommy gives his time to the NRA, Enlisted Association of the National Guard, the TriHeat Triathlon Club, and is the Director of TEAM McAuley, a special needs non-profit. Tommy enjoys hiking, camping, attending Hendersonville Church of Christ, Crossfit, and skydiving.


Nick Rogers

Nick Rogers is a certified, personal trainer and Bootcamp in instructor at The Grind gym here in Hendersonville. When Nick is not pumping the iron, yu can find him at Avaya Inc. where he is a Business Devolpent Manager. But his most honorable line of work would be Chief Master Sergant in the TN Air National Guard. He has proudly served our country for the past 26 years. Nick enjoys Alabama Football, motorcycles, hiking, hanging out with friends, bodybuilding, and spending quality time with his family. He is a loving husband to wife Angela and proud father to his son, Colby, and stepson Colby. Nick’s honors include National Level Men’s Physique Competitor, placing 3rd in the 2015 North American Championship Bodybuilding Competition. 


Dr. Jayson Tabor

Jayson graduated from Hendersonville High School and has a  Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He also a Bachelor of Arts – Samford University, Birmingham AL.  After dental school Jayson brought his amazing wife Dr. Mary Beth Tabor to reside here in Hendersonville and start their family.  

Jayson and his wife Mary Beth have a dental practice that they share with Dr. Claire Poff.  They are both wonderful examples of outstanding members of the dental community.  They love to help those in need here in town and love to stay involved in all things Hendersonville. Especially when it comes to their children.  Dr Tabor loves sports of all kind. He also loves family time and you can see him return to his glory days running the soccer field coaching one of his 4 beautiful blonde daughters. He enjoys working out, running and mission work. Jayson travels to Haiti two times a year to help those that need dental help and to talk about God’s word.

Jim Vaughn

Jim Vaughn has several titles and wears many hats. As Det. Sgt. Jim Vaughn he has served the City of Hendersonville Police Department for the past 34 years.  The Criminal Investigation Division is where Jim has spent 26 of those years, both as a Detective and now as Sergeant. He currently not only acts as a supervisor, he has also investigated several cold cases. 

He is in his third term as County Commissioner on which he has spent the majority of his tenure as Chairman of the Emergency Services Committee. Presently he is also a member of the Budget and Legislative Committees. He is a real estate agent and in the real estate community he is proud to be called Mr. Tammy. They have been with Crye-Leike Realtors sincethey opened the office in Hendersonville. 

His favorite titles are husband to to beautiful wife Tammy, Pops to his three children and Pa to his four grandchildren. He and Tammy are long term members of Hendersonville First Baptist Church where Jim is a Deacon and they have taught fifth grade Sunday School for the past 17 years.


Keith Whitley

Keith Whitley has lived in Hendersonville since 1976. He is a proud Hendersonville High School Alum who is married to wife, Kay, and is the father of Reese and Seth. Keith currently serves as Senior VP at Volunteer State Bank. When he isn’t working, you can find Keith participating as a member of the Lion’s Club, cycling, skiing on snow and water, hunting, fishing, and basically any activity that is outdoors.


About Mary's Magical Place

Proceeds will benefit Mary’s Magical Place, a playground to be designed and created where people can gather and play regardless of abilities and to enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Hendersonville, Sumner County and Middle Tennessee by bringing families together.

Mary’s Magical Place will be an all-inclusive playground designed around, but not limited to, children with special needs. It will also be a place where ALL children and adults, ranging from able bodied to those in wheelchairs, to come and play.

The park is being built in memory of Mary Elizabeth McAuley, daughter of Rachel and Tommy McAuley, sister of Grant and Griffin. Many knew her magical smile, and even though she never spoke a word, she touched the lives of many people. Mary passed away in September 2015 at the age of 14 due to complications from cerebral palsy.
